Hybrid Gulls

Glaucous-winged and Western gulls hybridize widely where their breeding ranges overlap along the coast of Oregon and Washington. The main area of overlap is about 200 miles wide, centered at the mouth of the Columbia River. Hybrid gulls are found widely in winter in Puget Sound, to northern California, and inland to the Willamette Valley of NW Oregon. [All photos taken at D River, Lincoln Co., Oregon]
